Abstract
Menorrhalgia is one of the most common disease in the gynecologic problems. We examined 28 menorrhalgic patients who visited outpatients department of Seoul Oriental Hospital of Kyungwon Univ. and took auricular acupuncture treatments and herbal medicines. The conclusions are as follows;
1. Women in their 20¢¥s are most vulnerable to menorrhalgia. Those in 40¢¥s are the next.
2. Menarche age ranges from 13 to 18 with its mean age was 14.54. Patients in their 10¢¥s experienced menarche in 13 and those in their 40¢¥s did later than 16 most commonly respectively.
3. Patients had a tendency to have a regular menstrual period, menstrual blood in dark color and much blood clot. There was no relationship between the amount of bleeding and severity of the pain.
4. The most frequently affected dates during menstrual period were the 1st and 2nd day, 79% and 43% respectively. Pain lasted for 2-3 days(61%), less than 1 day and 4-6 days in order.
5. The pain areas were low abdomen(96%), low back(61%), head, lower limbs, thigh and breasts in order.
6. Accompanied symptoms were low back pain(75%), nausea(54%), cold sense in extremities, abdominal bloating, depression, edema, dizziness, vomiting and pelvic pain.
7. The most common duration of menstrual pain in their life was 6-10 years.
8. Oriental medicine was not chosen often as the method of treatment and acupuncture was scarcely used.
9. The more times the auricular acupuncture treatment and herb medicine was, the better the result was.
